The purpose of high frequency transformer

The function of all transformers is to convert electric energy into magnetic energy, and then convert magnetic energy into electric energy. At the same time, the ratio of turns is used to realize the design of transformer.

For high frequency transformers and low frequency transformers, they are classified only according to their different operating frequency requirements. Of course, since their respective magnetic cores are applicable to different frequencies, so they’re not universal.

The purpose of high frequency transformer as following:

  1. Improve the conversion efficiency and use the power supply of high-frequency transformers. Since the power supply tube works in the state of instantaneous turn-on and cut-off, a state of constant switching between on and off. So we call it switching power supply. The switching state of the power supply is about 30% lower than the loss of the traditional iron-core transformer. Unfortunately, the failure rate is relatively high.
  2. It cans voltage transformation for the high-frequency pulse. The magnetic permeability of the common transformer core is not as high as that of the ferrite core. It can’t be done.
  3.  To improve the conversion efficiency, using the power supply of the high-frequency transformer. Since the power supply tube works in the state of instantaneous turn-on and cut-off, a state of constant switching between on and off. So we called the switching power supply. The wastage is about 30% lower than the traditional iron core transformer. Unfortunately, the failure rate is relatively high. A reference is to the contrast between older ballasts and electronic ballasts.
